Embark on a spiritual journey at Tirta Empul Temple, one of Bali’s most sacred water temples, located in Manukaya Village, Tampaksiring. This unique guided experience allows you to explore the temple’s holy grounds, witness traditional rituals, and optionally participate in a soul purification ceremony that has been practiced by Balinese Hindus for centuries.
Choose to meet your guide directly at Tirta Empul’s entrance or enjoy convenient Ubud hotel transfers in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Begin your walk through the grand Candi Bentar (split gate) and enter the Nista Mandala, the outer courtyard that connects the temple to the outer world. Here, you’ll see a peaceful koi pond and the Bale Banjar, a gathering hall where temple activities take place.
Continue into the Madya Mandala, home to the sacred purification pools. Your guide will explain each step of the traditional cleansing process — from meditation and offerings to the symbolic prayer to the gods, ancestors, and water spirits. You’ll also have the option to participate in the ritual yourself, an unforgettable spiritual experience of renewal and peace.
The final part of your walk leads to the Utama Mandala, the holiest section of the temple. Here, locals give thanks to the gods and water spirits before leaving the sacred site, marking the completion of the spiritual journey.
